The potential of winter weather has caused advisories to be issued and a few area schools to close.
Check out the cancellation tab on the home page of this website for a list of schools currently scheduled to be closed today.
While high accumulations are not expected, today could be a Hazardous Driving Day which has prompted the National Weather Service to issue Winter Weather Advisories for both southern Missouri and northern Arkansas.
In Missouri, Barry, Stone, and Taney Counties are included in the advisory while in Arkansas, Boone, Carroll, Madison, and Newton Counties are included in the Advisory Area.
The forecast shows only an inch or less of snow expected but strong winds could reduce visibility on the area roads as the snow falls and there is a chance of some freezing drizzle tonight. Wind Advisories are in effect today for northern Arkansas with wind gusts around 45 MPH expected.
After this system moves out, a brief warm-up will take place before another system moves through on Friday bringing another chance for rain and snow with temperatures plummeting, with highs only in the teens by next Monday.
