Winter Weather Advisory Extended into Lakes Region (UPDATE)

The National Weather Service has extended the Winter Weather Advisory to now include parts of the Lakes Region plus also has issued a Flood Warning for the Branson area and other parts of the Lakes Region.

UPDATE
A Flood Warning is in effect for parts of the Lakes Region until 9:15 this evening. The Warning includes the northern two-thirds of Taney County including the Branson Area as well as the southern half of Stone County and parts of Christian, Douglas, and Ozark Counties. This is due to heavy rainfall this morning that resulted in one to three inches of rain in the region. MODOT is reporting the low water crossing on Highway J near Mincy in Taney County is covered and other flooding will be possible as the day goes along.

While little ice and snow accumulation is expected, the forecast does expect precipitation to transition to freezing rain and snow early afternoon which has prompted the Weather Service to extend the Winter Weather Advisory into Lakes Area beginning at 11:00 this morning and remain in effect until 9:00 tonight. This advisory will affect all of the Lakes Area Counties of Barry, Stone, Taney, and Ozark.

Ahead of the colder temperatures, more heavy rain is expected. Parts of Ozark, Stone, and Taney Counties including the Branson Area remain under a Flood Advisory this morning with another round of heavy rain and possible strong thunderstorms expected before the end of the morning. A Flood Watch also remains in effect for today for all of southern Missouri.

No Arkansas Counties are under any weather watches or advisories as of now, but heavy rain and storms are expected with a quick transition to snow before ending later today.

After a cold night tonight, which will see temperatures drop into the teens, a warm-up will begin tomorrow and continue into the weekend with dry conditions expected.
