The National Weather Service has now put parts of the Lakes Region under a Winter Storm Warning for early Monday morning.
The breakdown for the Lakes Region goes like this:
-Both the Branson and Harrison Areas and the majority of the Lakes Region will be under a Winter Storm Warning overnight through the day on Monday. The counties included are Boone, Carroll, Madison, Marion, Newton, and northern Searcy in Arkansas, Barry, Stone, and Taney in Missouri. Counties in the Springfield Metro area are also under the Winter Storm Warning.
-The remainder of Searcy County along with Ozark County in Missouri will remain under a Winter Weather Advisory for Monday.
Currently, forecasters are expecting all precipitation this afternoon and evening to be in the form of rain with a changeover to snow after midnight. Projections now show more snow in the southern part of Missouri and northern Arkansas with the potential of two to six inches of snow possible.
While some snow impacts may be limited due to warm ground temperatures and the air temperature right around freezing, heavy snow and gusty winds could contribute to travel issues around the region. Some slippery road conditions could develop if snow gathers on the roadways as the day progresses.
