WonderWorks Branson is hosting several educational programs this fall to celebrate STEM and honor local artists according to a release from WonderWorks.
The family attraction will be celebrating National STEM Day on Monday, November 8, 2021, by conducting science labs throughout the building all day. This semester, it is also hosting its third-annual youth art contest in which the local artists will have their artwork on display at WonderWorks in the OZART: Missouri & Arkansas Young Artists Gallery. Artwork submissions are being accepted now through December 15, 2021.
“Science is alive and well at WonderWorks Branson! Our building is filled with fun, interactive exhibits that engage and educate our guests, and we’re excited to give them even more opportunities to learn something new,” says Brenda Dent, general manager at WonderWorks Branson. “Sometimes guests are having too much fun, they don’t even realize they’re learning, but we’re looking forward to digging a little deeper into the science behind some of our most popular exhibits.”
Upcoming events and educational offerings at WonderWorks Branson include:
• National STEM Day – On Monday, November 8, 2021, there will be science labs hosted throughout the building. The labs will explore several science concepts such as the principles of press, temperature, density, origami, and more. The labs will be located near exhibits that showcases the same scientific theories being studied in the lab. Guests can lay on the Bed of Nails and interact with a demo that explains why it doesn’t hurt, or they can take a closer look at why certain animals can survive in freezing cold waters and test their own luck at the Titanic exhibit to feel the chilling ocean temperatures. The labs will be offered alongside the100 hands-on, interactive exhibits that guests can explore all year.
• OZART: Missouri & Arkansas Young Artist Gallery – WonderWorks encourages young artists to explore the opportunities of STEAM with its OZART youth art contest, which encourages local artists to flex their creative side. This year’s theme is “Imagination.” Ten to fifteen artists will be selected to have their artwork on display in the gallery in WonderWorks. The winners will also receive four admission tickets each to see their artwork on display. Applicants must apply online, and submissions are being accepted now through December 15, 2021. STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math), and STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, and math) activities and lessons get kids interested in learning about these important topics. National STEM Day is held each year on November 8 in an effort to get kids to explore these concepts and opportunities within these fields. WonderWorks Branson provides kids with STEM/STEAM learning opportunities that are not only educational but are fun and interactive.
Some of the exhibits at WonderWorks Branson include the Bubble Lab, The Adventures of Professor Wonder, the Dig It! Interactive Sandbox, the illusion art gallery, and X-treme 360 bikes.
