One of the most unusual elections in the Lakes Region sees all three races won by Write-In Candidates.
Election news posted on our websites last Tuesday night indicated that the top vote getters for the Mayor's and Two Aldermen Positions in Reeds Spring were Write-In Candidates. On the release from the Stone County Clerk's Office, no names of the Write-Ins were included, just the total number.
In a follow-up report Wednesday by Ozarks First, Stone County Clerk Denise Dickens said in an interview that the those ballots would be counted during the verification process on Friday. Dickens said that a total of three people certified as a write-in candidate for two races, one for Mayor and two for Ward 2 Aldermen. Dickens said they would only count votes from the certified Write-In Candidates in those races while in Ward 1, where nobody filled to be on the ballot or be a write-in, all votes would be counted in that race as long as they are verified as eligible Reeds Spring residents.
The results were released on Friday and the write-ins were the top vote getters, Barbara Hoke for Mayor, Linda Jansen in Ward 1, and Steve Rogers in Ward 2.
As it is with all communities in the state, the official results now rest in the hands of the cities to be certified.
