The Springfield Sports Commission Honor Athletes from Southwest Missouri with honors for the past season at ceremonies held last week.
Several Lakes Area Athletes were selected as award winners included Blue Eye's Riley Arnold, who was named as the Girls Athlete of the Year.
Arnold competed in two Fall Sports as she claimed the Class 2 Cross Country Championship while also earning All-State in Volleyball. She also earned All-State Honors in Basketball leading the Lady Bulldogs to the Class 2 Final Four while also winning several medals in the Spring at the Class 2 State Track Championships.
Other area athletes were finalists and won awards in other categories at the award ceremonies. Those included:

Boys Cross Country: Sam Shuman Spokane
Boys Soccer: Carlton Epps Branson
Boys Wrestling: Kyshin Isringhausen Branson
Girls Basketball: Bug Bailey Hollister
Boys Tennis: Gavin Brown Branson
Boys Golf: Christian Cooper Spokane
Girls Track: Kyla Warren Blue Eye
Boys Track: Colsen Conway Branson
Also receiving Special Recognition was Victor Kelbaugh of Reeds Spring, who received an Inspiration Award. Kelbaugh is wheelchair-bound but has assisted the Wolves boys basketball team the past two seasons and was part of the opening tipoff in a game this past season against Monett.
