The first February Friday of the High School Basketball Season saw big events at two schools.
Reeds Spring Hall of Fame Night
The Reeds Spring Sports Hall of Fame adds Softball Standout Izzy Erickson (Class of 2020) and current Activities Director and former Head Football Coach Lance Gosch in ceremonies between games of the Wolves Basketball Doubleheader with Forsyth.
Erickson set many school records during her time as a member of the Lady Wolves team while Gosch, along with former coach and current head of the Table Rock Career Center Brian Moler, set the foundation for the success of the Wolves Football Program for a decade.
Also honored at Friday's game was the 1999-2000 Reeds Spring Boys Basketball team, that finished 3rd in the Class 3 State Tournament.
As for the games, the Lady Wolves overcame a first half deficit to knock off the Lady Panthers 49-36. After trailing the first three and a half quarters of the game, Reeds Spring shutdown the Forsyth offense to earn their third victory of the year over the Lady Panthers. In the boys contest, the Panthers get the win much the same way they did in their meeting two weeks ago in the Spokane Tournament with Forsyth pulling away from the Wolves for a 66-51 win.
Branson Courtwarming
In addition to the Courtwarming ceremonies, Branson High School honored former High School Principal Allen Ritchie during the boys contest against Marshfield. Ritchie was principal from 1982-98 and while serving as an administrator, also helped the Branson Football Program coaching the kickers during the years Coach Steve Hancock headed the program and continued to assist many years after retiring from education.
The Pirates celebrated the night by getting a 73-54 win over the Blue Jays. Since losing four in a role through the early new year, Branson has rebounded to now win seven out of their last nine games to go to 12-10 for the season.
Goblins on the Road
It was a split for the Harrison teams on the road at Greenwood Friday night. The Goblins rebounded after their first 5A West Conference loss this week by rolling by to an 88-52 victory over the Bulldogs. Meanwhile, the Lady Goblins dropped their contest 61-49.
