The College of the Ozarks Men's and Women's Basketball Games in Springfield on November 17 have been cancelled according to an Ozarks First Report.
The two school opened their seasons in Men's Basketball this past Wednesday with Evangel getting an 89-71 win. An incident before the game led to the stoppage and restart of the game after an Evangel Player had knelt in prayer after the playing of the National Anthem but before the Color Guard had left the floor.
Evangel officials tells Ozarks First that College of the Ozarks officials thought the action was a protest of the anthem. Eventually, both coaches and the player met with C of O Officials at half court and after discussion, decided to replay the anthem and start the game over.
C of O says in the Ozarks First story that a public address announcement was made before the first anthem for everyone to remain standing until the flag had left the court but also goes on to say that no disrespect was intended by the opposing player.
According to Evangel, C of O has now canceled the scheduled Men's and Women's Game scheduled for November 17th and the game is no longer listed on either school's Website.
