C of O Splits Games with Central Christian

The College of the Ozarks Basketball teams played Central Christian in a Sooner Athletic Conference Doubleheader at Point Lookout.

Women: C of O 90 Central Christian 37
In an impressive effort, the College of the Ozarks Lady Cats clinched a commanding victory over the Central Christian College Tigers with a final score of 90-37 on Saturday at Keeter Gym. The game, part of the Sooner Athletic Conference slate, highlighted the Lady Cats' ability and effort, adding to their already strong season.

By halftime, the Lady Cats had already established a sizeable advantage with a score of 48-19. Their relentless effort continued throughout the game, culminating in a sweeping final tally. Susie Moran and Logan Jones led the scoring for the Lady Cats. Moran contributed a game-high 23 points alongside 19 rebounds, continuing her critical role in the success of the Lady Cats. Logan Jones also had a dominant night with 21 points, adding to the team's offensive output.

The Lady Cats' defense was equally impressive, contributing to a record largest lead of 53 points in the fourth quarter with just 25 seconds left on the clock. Contributions from players like Avery Arnold, Taylor Rush, Abigail McBride, Lauren Jones, Fallon Bowman, Blakely Johnson, Blythe Benefield, Allyssa Joyner, Keara Mattingley, Savannah Ketchum, and Abbey Linville rounded out an all-around team effort, confirming their deep roster and solid team play.

Looking forward, College of the Ozarks is set to face Southwestern Christian University on January 30th in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. With the current team record standing at 13-7 overall and 11-5 in the conference, the Lady Cats are well-positioned to continue their strong performance in the ongoing season.

Men: Central Christian 97 C of O 85
In a thrilling Sooner Athletic Conference contest, the College of the Ozarks Bobcats faced off against the Central Christian College Tigers on Saturday, at Keeter Gym. Despite a determined comeback in the second half, the Bobcats were unable to catch the Tigers, falling 97-85.

From the start, the Bobcats found themselves trailing, ending the first half down 48-39. Central Christian managed to maintain and extend their lead throughout the game. The Bobcats showcased efforts from Andrew Dalton, who led the team with 22 points, accompanied by Garrett Snyder and Caleb Faulkner, who contributed 19 and 15 points, respectively. These performances stood out as highlights against a tough Tiger defense.

Key moments included a notable rally by the Bobcats in the second half, which injected excitement into the packed venue, though it was not enough to overcome the early advantage held by Central Christian. The Tigers were led by Chris Whitten with an impressive 29-point performance.

Looking ahead, the Bobcats, who now stand at a 7-12 overall record and 5-11 in the conference, are set to face Southwestern Christian University in Oklahoma City on January 30, 2025. The team is looking to regroup and target a rebound in their upcoming games as the season progresses.
