The College of the Ozarks Lady Bobcats open postseason play with a win.

In a thrilling opening round of the Sooner Athletic Conference tournament, the College of the Ozarks Lady Cats notched a decisive 68-55 win against the Texas Wesleyan University Rams. The game, which took place on Thursday in the Keeter Gymnasium, saw the Lady Cats demonstrate balanced team play to push their record to 20-9.

From the onset, the Lady Cats set a commanding pace, with Susanna Moran opening the scoring with a jumper. Abbey Linville significantly boosted the team's lead with back-to-back three-pointers. Blythe Benefield's multiple offensive rebounds were crucial as they ended the first period with a 20-10 lead. The Lady Cats maintained their lead through the second period, ending the half ahead 29-24, as Moran sank crucial free throws.

The Lady Cats continued to shine in the third period, with Abbey Linville and Logan Jones hitting key three-pointers that expanded their lead significantly. The team's fast transitions enabled quick scoring, pushing their advantage to a comfortable 57-39 by the end of the period. The final period saw Taylor Rush maintaining the momentum with an early three-pointer, and the team's consistent defensive stops ensured they maintained their lead to close the game at 68-55.

Top performers for the Lady Cats included Abbey Linville, who scored 18 points, all coming from beyond the arc. Susie Moran contributed 16 points and 10 rebounds, and Blythe Benefield added a double-double with 10 points and 12 rebounds. Despite an aggressive game that led to Moran fouling out, the Lady Cats managed to keep their composure and closed out the game with a solid victory, underlining their competitive edge and teamwork. This win sets a promising tone as the Lady Cats continue to navigate through the college basketball postseason.

The Lady Cats will travel to Langston, Oklahoma for a matchup against the host Lions who are the top team in the conference. Game time is 1:00.
