Many times over the years since Patrick Mahomes arrived in Kansas City, his team has fallen behind only to rally for a win.
That occurred again Monday night as the Chiefs fell behind 17-0 early, trailed by 10 at half, then got the second half lead then held on for a 30-29 win over the Las Vegas Raiders in an AFC West Match-up.
The Raiders used their own combination of Derek Carr to Devante Adams to get their first score and connected later in the game to make it close, but the Chiefs offense finally got going in the second quarter as Mahomes connected with Travis Kelce on a touchdown pass. That and a long field goal made it 20-10 at half. Then Mahomes and Kelce connected three times in the second half to build a seven point lead only to see the Raiders get a late touchdown but miss a two-point conversion that would have given them the lead.
The Chiefs were not able to run out the clock and gave the Raiders the ball with over two minutes left but eventually stopped them on a fourth and one to secure the win.
Kansas City is 4-1 overall entering this Sunday's showdown at home with fellow AFC Powerhouse Buffalo, also 4-1 on the season.
