One of the MOARK Featured Games this week turned into a wild contest between two softball teams on a baseball field.
The Ozark Mountain Conference contest at Rogersville between the Lady Wildcats and the Branson Lady Pirates was moved from the natural surface softball field to the turf baseball field due to wet field conditions and light rain that was forecast and did fall off an on during the contest.
The game itself was a back and forth affair that both teams appeared to have won at various times before Branson secured an eight inning 12-6 victory.
There were several lead changes during the game along with several ties, one caused by a solo home run by Jocelyn McQueen in the fifth. The Lady Wildcats got two runs in the bottom of the fifth and it looked like it would be enough as the Lady Pirates were down to their final out in the seventh when a fielding error extended the inning, setting the table for a Brooklyn Davis RBI single and a Jaidah Schwark two RBI double to give the Lady Pirates the lead.
It took only two hitters to tie the game in the home half of the seventh for Rogersville as a hit and a home run by Sydney Prenger knotted the score at 6 a piece. It once again look like they would be victorious as they loaded the bases with no one out however a line drive caught then ruled as being dropped let to a double play followed by a ground out that got the game to extra innings.
In the eighth, the Lady Pirates got the lead for good on a throwing error followed later in the inning by a two-run double by Sadie Lampe, a RBI single by Davis, then a two-run homer by Schwark to secure the win for Branson.
After losing eight in a row, the Lady Pirates have now won two straight entering this afternoon's game against Carthage. The game was originally schedule for Carthage on Monday but will be made up this afternoon in Branson at 4:00 prior to the Branson Homecoming Parade at the Branson Landing.
