Thursday was the opening day for most teams in the Arkansas State High School Championships for Baseball, Softball, and Soccer. Plus Branson closed their regular season baseball schedule at home, losing a 5-3 decision to Springfield Kickapoo.
The Harrison Lady Goblins slipped by host Marion 9-8 in the 5A Softball Tournament, earning them a spot against Benton in the quarterfinal round this afternoon at 12:30. The game can be heard live on MOARK Sports and on-air at KHOZ 94.9.
The Harrison Soccer Team split their games, the Girls winning and the Boys losing at the 5A Tournament at Valley View.
Both Green Forest Soccer Teams won their opening matches in the 3A Tournament hosted by Bergman in Harrison. Berryville Boys Soccer and Valley Springs Softball were among the other winners on Thursday.
Several teams, including those in the 1A Tournaments at Taylor, had their opening games delayed until today due to rain.
