Amy Lou (Brown) Portz was born January 3, 1964 in Independence, Missouri. After growing up in Independence and graduating school, Amy lived a time in Memphis where she was an event coordinator planning events with the likes of Priscilla Presley. She also worked in Texas before moving to Branson in the 1990s.
When she moved to Branson, Amy was known as Downtown Amy Brown while selling ads at Taylor Made News. She also owned and operated Selmore Realty as both an agent and broker till 2016 when she became ill.
Amy married her sweetheart, Kenny Portz on November 1, 2014. They loved time together, traveling, trail rides and the companionship they shared. Amy had a passion for animals and helped to found PAWS, an animal rescue. She loved God and was a spiritual person. She was very reflective and found peace in meditation.
On February 22, 2022, Amy received her wish for new legs and walked into the light.
Amy was preceded in death by her father, James Brown; her first husband Michael Massengale and uncle Jerry Brown.
She is survived by her loving husband, Kenny Portz of Kirbyville; mother D. J. Chappel of Branson; daughter, Victoria Lynn Portz of Hays, KS and grandson Damian Portz and half siblings Chad, Beth and Courtney.
Arrangements were under the direction of Snapp-Bearden Funeral Home and Crematory, Branson.
