Barbara June Hunter
October 7, 1939 – December 1, 2022
Barbara June Hunter , 83 of Forsyth, MO, died, Thursday, December 1, 2022 at Cox-Branson with family at her side. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 6th in the KSE Funeral Home, Forsyth, MO. Funeral Service will be at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 7th in the Sardis General Baptist Church with Pastor Sue Clayton officiating. Burial will follow in the Brown Cemetery, Cedar Creek, MO.
Barbara was born on Saturday, October 7th, 1939 to Tillman R. Thomas and Melvin O. Fry (Yes, Melvin was her first name) at the homestead in Hilda/Cedar Creek. Barbara attended Brown School and finished at Forsyth High School graduating in 1957.
Barbara held many jobs throughout her life, farmer, picking fruit in orchards out West, homemaker, AVON lady, dishwasher at Fox Café, Forsyth Chamber of Commerce, typed manuscripts, cook at Primetime (remember those specials!) laundry expert at National Enzyme after fire in 2016 and continued to care for animals at Five Oaks until she retired.
She loved God and Church, gardening, Brown School House Club, Brown Cemetery, making floral arrangements, and especially COOKING! Barbara was a member of The Eastern Star Theodosia and then later in Forsyth. The 80's ladies lunch group (let her join in her late 70’s).
She attended Apostolic Faith later New Beginnings Church Taneyville, MO and then Sardis General Baptist Church in Forsyth.
She was spunky, witty, corny, tell it as it is, and perfected “the look”. She never knew a stranger.
Barbara married Kenneth Braden shortly out of high school together for over 20 years. Later in life she married John Hunter and moved to Protem, MO where John’s kids, Jackie, Janet, Rick, and David and her family with all the combined grandkids learned many lessons of farm life, spent many meals together and taking turns laying/sitting on hearth in front of fire, and swimming in Quarry.
She is survived by two sons, Kenneth (Clint) Braden and wife, Dawn of Idaho, Tom Braden of Forsyth; one daughter, Sharon and husband, Charlie Amidon of Forsyth; six grandchildren, Kristofer, Morgan, Amy, Tyler, Amber & Michael; and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great nieces & nephews and cousins, all over the country.
She is preceded in death by parents; infant son, Donnie Scott Braden; two brothers, Ed Thomas and wife, Carol, of Alaska, Phillip Ray (Flip) Thomas and wife, Wanda of Oregon.
