Barbara Louellen “Barb” Hickman, age 87, of Fairview, Missouri went to her eternal home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus on Monday, January 13, 2025 at Select Specialty Hospital – Springfield in Springfield, Missouri.
She was born March 30, 1937 in Casa Grande, Arizona the daughter of Percy and Theresa (Ferguson) Payne. On February 16, 1957 in Miami, Oklahoma she was united in marriage to L.C. Hickman, who survives. Also surviving are her son, Bill Hickman and his wife Rita of Cassville, Missouri; daughter, Danita Dean of Fayetteville, Arkansas; brother, Daniel Payne of Elk City, Kansas; three sisters, Loretta Rose and her husband Vernon of Edmond, Oklahoma, Roberta Morrison and her husband Kenneth of Woodward, Oklahoma and Theresa Faddis and her husband Tom of Pineville, Missouri; two grandchildren, Brad Hickman and his wife Sarah of Fairview, Missouri and Raschelle Hendrix and her husband Steven of Wheaton, Missouri and five great grandchildren, Macee, Brayah, Layton, Will and Cain.
Preceding her in death were her parents and son-in-law, Robert Dean.
Barb graduated from Rogers High School in Rogers, Arkansas in 1954 then attended Bethany Nazarene College in Bethany, Oklahoma for one year. She and L.C. owned and operated The Red Bandana Diner in Centerton, Arkansas for several years before she went to work for the Walmart home office in the jewelry division from where she retired in 2002. They then moved to Fairview from Centerton. Barb was on the Garfield Arkansas School Reunion Committee and also served as secretary for The Wheaton Historical Society and Depot Museum for several years. She enjoyed cooking and playing the piano but most of all she loved her family. Barb was the pianist and a member at Wheaton Southern Baptist Church.
Funeral services to celebrate Barb’s life will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, January 18, 2025 at Wheaton Southern Baptist Church in Wheaton, Missouri, under direction of McQueen Funeral Home in Wheaton. Pastor Paul Wahlert and Pastor Mark Hall will conduct the service.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 P.M. until service time Saturday at Wheaton Southern Baptist Church in Wheaton.
