Benjamin “Ben” Kinel, age 93, of Branson, MO
Benjamin “Ben” Kinel, age 93, of Branson, Missouri, passed away with his wife at his bedside, July 6, 2021, after a brief illness. He entered this life January 15, 1928, in Gilmer, Texas, the son of Will and Julie Kinel. His parents have preceded him in death. He was joined in marriage April 1, 1978, to Marjorie “Jerri” Dunlap.
Ben proudly served our country in the United States Marine Corps and wrote articles for the Marine Corps Gazette. Having an eye for magnificent beauty, Ben was known for his skills in photography and flower gardens. The Branson Veteran’s Memorial Garden on Highway 76 was thought of and brought into being by his efforts and workmanship. In his quiet time, Ben could be found reading, planning his next projects, or spending quality time with his cat, Princess. His eye-catching work and his love of family will bring memories for years to come. He will be greatly missed.
Ben is survived by his wife of 43 years, Marjorie “Jerri” Kinel; three daughters: Sindy Simms of Phoenix, Arizona; Segird Simms of Phoenix, Arizona; and Shalom Simms of San Francisco, California; son, Shane Simms of Bossier City, Louisiana; four grandchildren: Sarah, Shaney, Skylar, and Magness; and three great-grandchildren: McKinnley, Brianna, and Bayne.
There will be a special recognition and dedication of the Veteran’s Memorial Garden in memory of Ben at 1:00 p.m., Friday, July 9, 2021. Branson Mayor Larry Milton has declared that July 9th will be known as Ben Kinel Day. Arrangements and cremation are under the direction of Cremations of the Ozarks
