Betts Carr Baker

Betts Carr Baker, 83, of Branson, MO.

Betts Carr Baker was born March 4, 1941 in Springfield, MO to Eldrich and Margaret Betts Carr. Betts passed away Sunday, July 28, 2024 due to injuries sustained in an automobile accident. She was 83 years old.

Betts was a graduate of Parkview High School and attended Southwest Missouri State University. While in college, she joined the world famous “LD Keller and the Promenaders,”traveling and performing at shows and rodeos with the “Ozark Jubilee.”

Betts married Donald Earl Baker on August 2, 1962 as Don began his career as a State Farm Agent. She served as his first office manager and together they grew their business and family over the next 59 years.

Betts’ gift of hospitality meant there was always an extra seat at the dinner table. Betts led Cub Scout dens and Girl Scout troops and drove countless miles chauffeuring her children and their friends to and from activities. Always community minded, she served the Branson School District for 12 years as a board member and Treasurer. Never slowing down, Betts continued to serve by volunteering in the Early Childhood Education classroom for Branson Schools. She was an Elder at Branson’s First Presbyterian Church, where she also served on several committees and volunteered with the children’s choir and youth programs.

Betts (also known as BeBe) loved being surrounded by children and will be remembered by many for the gumball machine in her home which dispensed sweets in return for a hug or a fist bump.

Betts is preceded in death by her parents and her husband of 59 years, Don.

Betts is survived by her children Doug (Tisha) Baker, Dale Baker, Donna Schisler, Bryan Baker, and Linda Baker, her grandchildren Derrek Baker, Finley and Cassidy Baker, Isaac and Sophia Baker, Tilly and Desiree Schisler, her brothers E.A. (Janis) Carr and Mike (Cathy) Carr, several nieces and nephews and a host of other family and friends who will miss her very much.

A Celebration of Life service will be held August 17 at the First Presbyterian Church in Branson with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. and the service following at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers Betts requested memorial donations be made to the First Presbyterian Church in Branson.
