Catherine Ann “Cathy” Harter, age 75, of Wheaton, Missouri

Catherine Ann “Cathy” Harter, age 75, of Wheaton, Missouri passed away Wednesday, January 31, 2024 at Mercy Hospital Springfield, in Springfield, Missouri.

            She was born April 18, 1948 in Springfield, Missouri the daughter of Carl and Reta (Sanders) King. On June 12, 1970 in Ash Grove, Missouri she was united in marriage to Jerry Harter, who survives. Also surviving are one son, Stephen Harter and his wife Kristen of Marietta, Georgia and two grandchildren, Max and Sam.

            Preceding her in death were her parents; one brother, Jimmy C. King and one sister-in-law, Alice King.

            Cathy grew up and attended school in Ash Grove, Missouri graduating from Ash Grove High School. She later attended Southwest Missouri State College earning a bachelor’s in education. Cathy and Jerry moved to this area in 1974. She taught business classes at Exeter High School in Exeter, Missouri for 33 years from where she retired in 2012. Cathy was an excellent cook and enjoyed sewing. She was very involved with school and church activities. Cathy was a member of Wheaton Southern Baptist Church.

            Services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, February 6, 2024 at Wheaton Southern Baptist Church in Wheaton, under direction of McQueen Funeral Home in Wheaton. Pastor Paul Wahlert and Reverend Jerry Francisco will conduct the services. Burial will be at Rocky Comfort Cemetery in Rocky Comfort, Missouri.

            The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 7:00 P.M. Monday at McQueen Funeral Home in Wheaton.
