Charles “Chuck” Gries...

Charles “Chuck” Gries was born on July 21, 1960, in Sioux City, Iowa. He passed away at home on March 19, 2025, surrounded by his family who loved him dearly.

Chuck was a man with a great heart like no other. His love for hunting and fishing developed at a young age and would soon be the passion of his life. Chuck served in the United States Marine Corps just after high school and married his wife Lynn in 1979. They later moved to Branson, Missouri, in 1994, where his love for fishing grew into more and became his passion and career. He and his wife opened Anglers Outfitters in 1994, where he guided many on Lake Taneycomo for 30 years. Anyone who fished in Lake Taneycomo during those years would quickly learn of Chuck, who taught hundreds of people how to fish and helped many develop the passion and love he had for fly fishing in the Ozarks. However, Chuck was more than just a guide to most: he was a friend, a mentor, and family to so many who traveled the world to come fish with him. He was also known to go out of his way to help others in any way because it was the right thing to do. But for his family he was more than just a fishing guide; he was an amazing husband, father, and grandfather, always there at every moment and opportunity because he loved them so much. While he may be gone his knowledge, teachings, and fish stories will always be carried on by those who knew him.

He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Lynn Gries; son, Adam Gries; daughter, Jessalyn (Dilon) Cartwright; and granddaughter, Adalynd Cartwright.
