Charles Douglas “Doug” Canote

Charles Douglas “Doug” Canote, age 77, of Branson, Missouri.

Charles Douglas “Doug” Canote, age 77, of Branson, Missouri passed away Saturday, December 21, 2024. He entered this life April 15, 1947, in Kansas City, Missouri, the son of Charles and Mildred (Falke) Canote. Arrangements and cremation are under the direction of Cremations of the Ozarks.

After graduation, Doug served our country in the U.S. Naval Reserves. Later, he was known by many in Taney County, where he was a postal carrier for more than 45 years. He was always punctual when delivering mail and dedicated to his service. He never missed a day of work. Doug was never too busy to check in on those on his route. He will be missed by many who came to know and love him.

In his spare time, Doug enjoyed gardening and tinkering on cars and other projects around the house. He was reserved with a great sense of humor. He had a love of classic rock and roll music that he was able to share with his grandson late in life.

Doug’s birth mother, Mildred Canote, passed away when he was 12. So, he was raised by his father and his “Mom” Edna. Doug’s brother, Don Canote; a half-sister, deAnn Moore; and his beloved soul-mate, Irene Rhodes. They have all preceded him in death.

He is survived by three children and their spouses: Tim and Tonda Canote of Las Vegas, Nevada, Amy and Greg Robertson of Taneyville, Missouri, and Andy and Traci Canote of Hollister; eleven grandchildren and their spouses: Jeff (Makayla), Zach, Cody, Jake, Bryan (Gwenda), Julie, Jordyn (Colton), and Emma; three great-grandchildren: Emmet, Scarlet, and Drew; a sister and her spouse, Donna Gillispie and husband Jack of Kimberling City, Missouri; as well as his work “family,” who meant so very much to him.

Private inurnment will be held at a later time. Doug’s family would like to express their gratitude to Compassus of Branson for the compassionate hospice care Doug received during his last days. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Compassus of Branson. To share a memory of Doug or express a condolence message to his family, please visit www.cremationsoftheozarks.com.
