Charles Grant Caswell, 77, of Branson.
Charles Grant Caswell, 77, of Branson, passed away peacefully on May 20th, 2022, in Oak Grove, Missouri, surrounded by family. Charles (Chuck) was born in Shreveport, Louisiana on July 31st, 1944, to Eileen Craemer. Chuck and his twin brother John (Wes) moved to Quenemo, Kansas with Eileen and their stepfather Ralph Caswell where they grew up through their teenage years. At the age of 20, Chuck enlisted into the Army and served a 2-year tour in Vietnam. After he was honorably discharged, he returned to the Kansas City area, where he lived much of his life until 2000, enjoying many marriages and relationships and fathering 7 daughters through the years. His business adventures included owning his own moving company, being a long-haul truck driver, and managing a gas station. Family and friends will fondly remember Chuck as having a jovial laugh, a strong work ethic, and an entrepreneurial spirit. He never met a stranger and opened his home to those in need on many occasions. He fostered several lifelong friendships and continued to work even after moving to Branson. There, he owned and operated a liquor store, and later worked at Price Chopper and Walmart. Chuck coached girls’ softball for 10 years and was very actively involved with his young daughters. He absolutely loved spending the holidays with family and friends and was known for his abundant décor inside and outside, particularly at Christmas. He was an avid collector of Bradford Christmas Villages, Peanut M&M Memorabilia, and Avon steins. Chuck was also a lifelong fan of the Kansas City Chiefs and always enjoyed Sunday football games. In the later years of his life, he was able to reconnect with most of his daughters, several of whom participated in his care the last weeks of his life. Through these experiences, he and some of his children found peace and meaning in his well lived life. Bringing these women together may be his final legacy. Although he was blessed to have many grandchildren, Chuck enjoyed a special relationship with his eldest grandson Anthony, who also lived with him the last three years of his life. Chuck leaves behind seven daughters, and 14 grandchildren.
Chuck was preceded in death by his twin brother Wes in 2005. A small graveside service with military honors will be held with family and friends to remember Chuck at Ozarks Memorial Park Cemetery in Branson under the direction of Snapp-Bearden Funeral Home & Crematory, before he is laid to rest with his brother. The service will be Sunday, July 31, 2022 at 11:00 AM in the cemetery. BVA 913 and the United States Army will accord military rites.
