Charles LeRoy Julian

A celebration of the life of Dr. Charles Julian, D.C. will be held Friday, September 23, 2022 at 5:30 PM at the First Baptist Church in Kimberling City.

Charles LeRoy Julian was born December 5, 1929 in Moline, Kansas to Roy & Kittie (Sallee) Julian.  He served on the U.S. Naval attack transport USS Menifee during the Korean Conflict.  After returning home, he worked in a bakery, sold Fuller Brush, insurance and then at age 42 decided to study chiropractic medicine at Cleveland Chiropractic College in Kansas City.  Upon graduation in 1965 he setup his practice in Independence, KS for 28 years and then practiced in Missouri for 29 years.  In 1977 he became certified and able to teach the S.O.T adjusting technique, and in 1979 he became a certified Diplomate in the specialty of Chiropractic Orthopedics. After moving to Missouri he also helped with the family houseboat rentals. When asked about retiring, Charles told the doctor, “When I can’t help anyone any more.”

Charles married Gloria Ray on June 18, 1950 in Independence, KS.  They were blessed with one daughter and 63 years of marriage.  In 1992, the family moved from Independence, KS to Blue Eye.  Charles and Gloria enjoyed traveling and he was known for eating a nightly bowl of ice cream along with his ability to eat large servings of dessert and not gain a pound.  Charles was a member of the Open Door United Methodist Church of Blue Eye.

Charles entered into rest on Tuesday, September 13, 2022 at the age of 92.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Gloria; and one brother, Gerald Julian.

Charles leaves behind his daughter and son-in-law, Mona & Stephen Fennema of Blue Eye; sisters, Marjorie Gilbertson of Moses Lake, WA, Neva Givich of Kimberling City, MO, and Wanda Hunter of Longmont, CO.  He is also survived by his grandchildren, Laura Alexander, Andrew Fennema and Alexander Fennema; and his eight great-grandchildren, Kirstin Fennema, Makenzy Fennema, Elexas Fennema, Addison Fennema, Wyatt Fennema, Dylan Fennema, Avery Fennema and Lola Alexander.

Charles will be interred in private services at Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Springfield with full military honors.  Arrangements are under the direction of Snapp-Bearden Funeral Home & Crematory, Branson.
