Charles Michael “Mike” (Captain Mac) McJimsey, age 78, of Monett, Missouri passed away Tuesday, February 18, 2025.
He was born on September 26, 1946 in Wichita, Kansas the son of Ralph and Syble (Hurst) McJimsey. On September 10, 1969 in Newkirk, Oklahoma he was united in marriage to Donna Roulston, who survives. Also surviving are one son, Derek McJimsey and his wife Debra of Aurora, Missouri; three daughters, Carrie Jabben and her husband Steve of Cassville, Missouri, Michelle Hartman and her husband Bruce of Wichita, Kansas and Wendi Salyer and her husband Dave of Wichita, Kansas; 13 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were his parents and brother, Patrick McJimsey.
Mike grew up and attended school in Wichita, Kansas graduating from Wichita South High School. On December 16, 1968 he began his career as a fire fighter in Wichita, Kansas. Mike became captain on January 1, 1979 and retired on September 15, 1996. He was very proud of his fire service and was a hero to many. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping and being outdoors. A favorite pastime was watching NASCAR. Mike’s family was very important to him, he loved spending time with them, especially his grandkids.
Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, March 8, 2025 at Eagle Rock-Golden-Mano Fire Department in Eagle Rock, Missouri, under direction of Fohn Funeral Home in Cassville. Mark Dougherty and Pete Peterson will conduct the service. Fire department honors will be provided by Sedgwick County Fire Honor Guard.
