Charles “Ray” Claywell, age 89, of Cassville, Missouri passed away Saturday, October 15, 2022 at his home.
He was born September 4, 1933 in Bowling Green, Kentucky the son of Aaron and Louise (Hartford) Claywell. On March 13, 1993 in Rogers, Arkansas he was united in marriage to Margaret Miller, who survives.
Also surviving from his first marriage to Jean Maclean Fitting are two sons, Mark Claywell and his wife Melissa of Escondido, California and Michael Claywell and his wife Kayla of Timnath, Colorado; two daughters, Beth Walck and her husband Jim of Escondido, California and Jeanette McCaughtry and her husband Jim of Nicholson, Georgia; two step-sons, James Sinclair and his wife Linda of Seligman, Missouri and Terence Sinclair and his wife Dee of Purdy, Missouri and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were his parents and a brother.
Ray grew up and attended school in Bowling Green, Kentucky later attending college attaining an associate degree. After graduating he enlisted in the United States Navy serving thirty years from September 19, 1951 until his retirement on July 1, 1981. During this time he served in the Vietnam War. Returning home he was employed by General Dynamics in California for ten years as an Integration Engineer. Ray moved to the Cassville area in 1991. He was a member of the National Rifle Association and Woodcarvers of Northwest Arkansas and served as a reserve for the Barry County Sheriff’s Department. He enjoyed woodcarving and attended Mill Street Church of Christ.
Private memorial services were held at 2:00 P.M. Friday, October 21, 2022 at Fohn Funeral Home in Cassville. Laith Hayward conducted the services.
