Clint Van Maxwell

Clint Van Maxwell, age 88, Branson, Missouri

Clint Van Maxwell was born July 26, 1934 in Wheeler, Texas and went home to be with the Lord July 7, 2023 at Forsyth, Missouri.

He was the only child of Elmer Maxwell and Fay (Floyd) Maxwell. The family moved to California in 1937 where Clint attended schools in Irvine and Tustin, California until his parents purchased a farm in Briscoe, Texas in 1950. Clint graduated from Briscoe High School in 1952 and moved to Amarillo, Texas where he worked for Santa Fe Railroad until joining the Navy in 1954.

While attending the Navy Electronics School at Treasure Island, San Francisco, California in 1955 he met and fell in love with Juanita Ellen Fay. After school he was reassigned to a Navy base in Monterey, California. He and Juanita were married July 23, 1955 in Carson City, Nevada. This month would have been their 68th anniversary.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and is survived by his wife, Juanita; a son, Steve and his wife Lurlee; a son Philip and his wife, Brenda; 7 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.

The kindness and love of Clint’s granddaughter, Naomi, and her husband, Stephen; and his granddaughter, Sarah, were of special comfort to Clint.

After discharge from military service in 1958, Clint and Juanita lived in the California Bay area where Clint worked in electronic manufacturing. He was transferred by Ampex Corporation to Dallas, Texas in 1966 where they remained until purchasing a Western Auto store in Forsyth, Missouri in 1971, which they owned and operated until 1973. Determined to remain in the Ozarks, Juanita developed her talents as an artist and Clint worked at various jobs before finding a dependable income and career in auto parts management, which he pursued until retirement in 1997.

Clint enjoyed many hobbies including writing and teaching Bible studies, restoring vintage cars, genealogy, repairing and refinishing antique radios, trunks, making primitive furniture, repairing and giving away laptop computers, and “fixing just about anything that was broke.”

In December, 1979, at the age of 45, the prayers of others brought Clint to the realization that all humanity will spend eternity somewhere and a choice must be made during this earthly lifetime. He prayed for salvation and gave his life to the Lord Jesus Christ. He stated many times that a salvation message as part of his funeral service was his wish. Though not desiring to leave living loved ones he looked forward to being with his Savior for eternity and enjoying the great reunion with all who accept the wonderful gift of salvation.

Clint had absolute faith and confidence in the promise made by Jesus…There are many rooms in my Father’s home, and I am going to prepare a place for you. If this were not so, I would tell you plainly. John 14:2 NLT

and that these words spoken by Job so long ago are applicable today…”But as for me, I know that my Redeemer lives, and that he will stand upon the earth at last. And after my body has decayed, yet in my body I will see God! I will see him for myself. Yes, I will see him with my own eyes. I am overwhelmed at the thought! Job 19:25-27 NLT

God greatly blessed him with a family and friends, a good and long life and the best is yet to come for Clint and all who know Jesus as both Lord and Savior!

Visitation for Clint will be Wednesday evening, July 12, 2023 from 6:00 – 7:00 PM in Snapp-Bearden Forsyth Chapel, 16560 US Hwy 160, Forsyth.   Funeral services will be Thursday morning, July 13, 2023 at 10:00 AM in Snapp-Bearden Forsyth Chapel.  Burial will follow in Ozarks Memorial Park Cemetery, Branson.
