Cora Kathleen (Kay) Foley Claar

Cora Kathleen (Kay) Foley Claar, at the age of 97, passed peacefully from this life to her heavenly home on October 10th, 2022 with family by her side.

Kay, as she was known by all, was the daughter of daughter of Sherman and Cora Foley and was born as the 5th of 10 children to that union on September 4th, 1925 in Columbus, Ohio.  She grew up in that area and eventually met Richard Lee Claar, also of Columbus, OH, and was subsequently married to him on in October 20th, 1943 in Greenup, Kentucky  They were married for 76 years until his passing in January of 2020.   There were two boys born to their union, Terry Lee Claar and Richard Lee Claar. Richard and Kay eventually settled in Branson in 1959 where they raised their family and she lived in the same home up until her passing.   Kay was a hard worker but was most proud of the care she provided to patients at Baylor Medical Center in Dallas and Skaggs (now Cox) Hospital in Branson, Missouri where she was the EKG supervisor until her semi-retirement in 1988.  After that she went on to travel with her husband as part of the Back to the Bible ministry.  She finished her career as a personal care assistant for then Oxford Healthcare, working into her 80’s caring for many patients much younger than herself.  Her favorite job though was raising her family where she took the lead role as nurturer not only for her boys, but also grandchildren and great children, all of whom she loved dearly.  Kay is described as one of the most selfless people ever known and would literally give you the shirt of her back if she thought you needed it. She always put the needs of others, particularly her family, in front of her own.   She lived an unassuming and supporting role throughout her life and was incredibly witty making those around her laugh and smile.  She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Kay is proceeded in death by her parents, Sherman and Cora (Beard) Foley, her husband, Richard Lee Claar, her siblings Roger, Virginia, Jack, Wilson, Dorothy, Sherman, Robert, David and Mary Ellen.  She is survived by sons Terry Lee Claar (Kirbyville) and Richard Lee Claar (Branson).  Grandchildren, Angela (Claar) Huff, Anthony (Tony) Lee Claar, Rebecca (Claar) Loveland, Melissa (Claar) Dulaney, Leslie Hughes, and Chas Claar. Great Grandchildren, Spencer, Wesley, Ashlan, Logan, Alyssa, Logan and Cora and great, great grandchildren Grayson and Everett.

Services will be held on Friday, October 14, 2022 in Snapp-Bearden Funeral Home & Crematory, Branson.  Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM and the funeral service will follow at 11:00 AM.  Kay will be laid to rest in Ozarks Memorial Park Cemetery, Branson.
