Daniel F. Schaefer, age 62, of Shell Knob, MO
Daniel F. Schaefer, age 62, of Shell Knob, Missouri passed away Saturday, July 10, 2021 at his home.
Dan was born September 14, 1958 in St. Louis, Missouri, the son of Frank and Christine (Pruitt) Schaefer. On June 20, 1991 in Menominee, Michigan he was united in marriage to Lucy Nemetz, who survives. Also surviving are two brothers, John Schaefer of Shell Knob, Missouri and David Schaefer of St. Louis, Missouri, four brothers-in-law and their wives, one sister-in-law, many nieces and nephews, two grand nephews, a very special cousin, Gloria and her husband Jerry Adam of Forsyth and his dog Vail.
Preceding him in death were his parents, his stepdad, Richard Easton and one brother-in-law, Charles Nemetz.
Dan grew up in the St. Louis area. After graduating high school he took some college courses. His work allowed him to travel throughout the country installing conveyor systems. You could mention a city and he would say “I was there”. One day he found Shell Knob in his travels and never left. He started his excavation business and later added septic inspections until cancer forced his retirement. Dan was a good time person and did not know a stranger. He cherished his childhood lifelong friends.
A memorial visitation to celebrate his life will be held from 10:00 A.M. until 12:00 P.M. Saturday, July 24, 2021 at Fohn Funeral Home in Shell Knob with a prayer service to follow. Chaplain Robert Mattingly will conduct the services.
Contributions may be made to Three Rivers Hospice in Mount Vernon or Central Crossing Senior Center in Shell Knob in memory of Daniel.
