David Richard Owens, age 86, of Merriam Woods

David Richard Owens, age 86, of Merriam Woods, Missouri, passed away March 19, 2023. He entered this life on June 16, 1936, the son of Frank and Anna (Dilley) Owens in Saint Cloud, Minnesota.

With a lively personality, David quickly made friends with everyone he met. He was a well-loved resident at Forsyth Nursing and Rehab by the nursing staff and other residents as well. David was known for singing gospel songs in the hallways, at church, and on karaoke nights. He enjoyed watching college sports, going to the movies, admiring fancy cars, bowling, and playing bingo and scratcher crossword tickets. David held many roles throughout the years: member of a chamber of commerce when living in Utah; teacher at various schools; post commander; and preacher in churches in Minnesota, California, and Las Vegas. He loved spending time with family teaching them how to fish, hunt, and play sports. The memories and moments created through David’s lifetime will be cherished by all who knew him.

David is survived by his children: Roger (Danielle) Owens of Merriam Woods, Missouri; David (Heather) Owens Jr. of Pillager, Minnesota; Jacqueline Rosenkranz Olson of Wyoming, Minnesota; Paula (Bruce) Polhamus of Greeley, Colorado; Chuck (Carol) Zabinski of Minnesota; Dawn Marie (Chad) Owens of Buena Park, California; and Natasha (Flint) McCoy of Fort Smith, Arkansas. He is also survived by fifteen grandchildren, twenty-four great-grandchildren, one great-great child; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He is preceded in death by his parents: Frank and Anna Owens; brothers: Sylvester, Johnny, Jimmy, Clarence, Everett, and Roger; and sisters: Marie, Beverly, Delores, Grace, and Anna Mae.
