Donald “Don” Eugene Miller, age 80, of Branson, Missouri.
Donald “Don” Eugene Miller, age 80, of Branson, Missouri, passed away Sunday, September 15, 2024. He entered this life May 31, 1944, in Springfield, Missouri, the son of Michael and Glendora (Lindsay) Miller. Don was joined in marriage September 15, 1996, to Mollie Bernice “Bernie” (Chebahtah) Miller. They created many memories and shared twenty plus wonderful years together. Don proudly served his country in the United States Army as a member of the 101st Airborne Combat Unit during the Viet Nam War as well as a life-time member of the Viet Nam Veterans of America.
After his duty to our nation, Don was a firefighter in Springfield, Missouri, until his retirement in 1996. After retirement, Don devoted his full time to his ongoing career as a fishing guide, pursuing both deep sea and freshwater species. He provided a lifetime of memories for his clients, ever in pursuit of the next record fish. His favorite area to fish and guide were the Florida Keys, especially around Islamorada. When Don was not on the water, he dedicated 39 years of his life serving those in need through Shriners International. He completed his life on this Earth as an organ and tissue donor impacting many lives. His service to the communities in which he lived and his love for his family will be remembered for generations to come. Don Miller will be missed by those who had the honor and pleasure to have met him.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers: Michael Miller and James Miller.
Don is survived by his wife of 28 years, Bernie Miller of Branson, Missouri; a daughter and her husband, Missy and Kenny Pope of England, UK; his grandkids: Alli, Tannar and Tobey Pope; stepchildren: Annie Lane of Ozark, Missouri and Thomas Lane of Springfield, Missouri; his step-grandchildren: Kyler Smith and Ella Lane; several nieces and nephews; and of course his beloved and faithful dog, Christmas “Chrissy.”
A celebration of Don’s life will be held 12:00 p.m. Friday September 27, 2024, at Taney County Shrine Club, Branson, Missouri. Immediately following the service, a luncheon will be served.
