Donald “Don” Scheu...
Donald “Don” Scheu passed away peacefully on Friday, April 4, 2025, at the home of his daughter Debra in Branson, Missouri, where he had resided for the past eleven years.
Born on August 24, 1934 in the Township of Corning, Wisconsin to Alvin and Helena (Moehrer) Scheu, Don spent his early years in Wisconsin before moving to Watersmeet, Michigan, for high school. There he lived at a logging camp owned and operated by his parents.
On August 5, 1952, Don married Sandra Chiochios in Kirksville, Missouri. They eventually settled in Merrill, Wisconsin, where they raised their two children, Debra and David. Don and Sandra shared 46 years of marriage before her passing in 1999.
Don took great pride in his work as a heat and frost insulator, and later served as a business agent for Local 127. He and Sandra enjoyed many summers camping at Indian Shores and Foxfire Campgrounds in the Wisconsin Northwoods.
Don enjoyed visiting casinos, playing cribbage, and cheering on Wisconsin sports teams. He will be fondly remembered for his quick wit and sense of humor.
He is survived by his daughter Debra (Warren) Latzig and son David (Clarice) Scheu, seven grandchildren: Todd (Rebecca) Latzig, Caryn Franzen, Courtney (Eric) Petruzates, Rebecca (Jake) Becker, Justin Scheu, Jason Scheu, and Andrew (Shannon) Scheu; thirteen great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife, Sandra; an infant daughter, Terry Lynne; his brother Leslie (Dolores) Scheu; sisters Lorna (Lester) Neumann, Sylvia (Jim) Madson, and Eleanor (Harold) Neumann; and longtime companion, Norma Rigoni.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
