Sue grew up in Carthage, MO and it was during a summer visit to her sister’s farm in Kansas, that a young Roy Williams became smitten with Sue and later asked her to marry him. When her family moved to California, Roy followed his fiancé Sue to California and they were married in Yuma, Arizona on February 6, 1954. Sue cherished her role as a mother and wife. While Roy provided for the family operating his own business, Sue made her home a haven of comfort and love.
Sue loved the outdoors, relishing every opportunity to embark on camping adventures and travel in the family motorhome. She would strive to have the camper packed, ready for an excursion with the family the moment Roy arrived home. Many family memories involve camping trips and time on the lake, boating, fishing and waterskiing.
Sue also had a creative side that showed through in the beautiful, crocheted bonnets, sweaters, and blankets she lovingly fashioned for her family.
Besides her outdoor adventures and needlework, Sue enjoyed playing cards. Skip-Bo was her game of choice, and she shared the joy of this pastime with all generations of her family. She taught her grandchildren to play the game and took great pleasure in the friendly competition with her family. She also had a love for the simple pleasure of watching game shows.
Sue possessed a great sense of humor—quick-witted and sassy. She always kept her family laughing as well as amusing her doctors and nurses with her jokes and playful banter, even in trying times.
