
Dorothy “June” Pond, 83.
Dorothy “June” Pond, 83, gained her wings on Sunday April 13, 2025, at Cox Hospital in Branson, Missouri surrounded by family. She was born on June 14, 1941, in Grady, New Mexico, the daughter of Edward L. and Irene (Tillman) Reed.
While working as a carhop at her uncle’s Drive Inn, she met the love of her life, Bill Pond. June and Bill married on May 31, 1958, and started their lives together in Canyon, Texas. In 1965, they moved to Arkansas where they started Pond Land and Cattle Company and lived out the rest of their days here in the Ozarks.
June loved square dancing, bowling and traveling with friends. She worked for Boone County Soil Conservation Service for 31 years then at Dollar General in Lead Hill for 10 years where she was affectionately known as “June Bug”. June was a founding member of Lead Hill Chamber of Commerce where she later and proudly received a Lifetime Achievement Award from Lead Hill and Diamond City Area Chamber of Commerce. She loved to be involved in her community.
June is preceded in death by her loving husband Bill after 54 years of marriage. Also, her parents, her sister Betty Fields of Amarillo, Texas and her brother Elmer Reed of Dora, New Mexico.
She is survived by a son Eddy Pond of Nashville, Tennessee, two daughters Billie June (Rob) Borland of Harrison, Arkansas and Sammie (Herbert) O’Brain of Lead Hill, Arkansas. Also, June leaves behind a sister Jessie Edmonds of Eunice, New Mexico, a brother Roger Reed of Amarillo, Texas, 6 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. In addition, June departs from this world leaving a sister-in-law Bobby Bible of Harrison, Arkansas and a whole host of nieces, nephews, friends and family.
June was a wonderful mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great great grandmother, sister, aunt, daughter and friend. She will be missed dearly by all that knew and loved her.
A memorial service is planned for April 19, 2025, at 10:30AM located at Oregon Flat Baptist Church in Bergman, Arkansas with Brother Frank Hillis officiating.
