Drew M. Love

January 17, 1947 - April 6, 2023

A memorial service will be held on April 22, 2023, at 10:30 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church of Branson, MO, for Drew M. Love of Highlandville, who passed away April 6, 2023, at the age of 76. He was born January 17, 1947, in Pittsburg, KS, to Drury M. and Wilma L. (Sipes) Love.

Drew married Patricia A. (Daugherty) Love of Kansas City, MO, on August 26, 1972, and she survives. Drew was a member of Second Presbyterian Church of Kansas City. He lived most of his life in Missouri. While in high school, Drew played guard on the legendary Jefferson City Jays football team, which went undefeated in 71 straight games between 1958 and 1965. He attained the rank of Eagle Scout and continued his love of the outdoors with fly fishing, waterfowl hunting, camping, backpacking, cycling, and canoeing.

From 1972 to 1973 he served with the U.S. Army, Europe and Seventh Army Headquarters, 66th Military Intelligence Group. Drew received a BA in English and an MEd in Special Education-Learning Disabilities from the University of Missouri-Kansas City. His teaching career spanned 1974-2004, during which time he developed and implemented learning skills programs in math, sciences, medical school instruction, and test-taking skills for college undergraduate and graduate students. He belonged to Kappa Alpha Fraternity while an undergraduate and to the professional organizations Phi Delta Kappa National Education Honorary Fraternity, the Association of Adults and Children with Learning Disabilities, and the Association on Handicapped Student Service Programs in Post-Secondary Education.

Arrangements are under the direction of Snapp-Bearden Funeral Home and Crematory in Branson. Drew devoted his life to education, from elementary to post-graduate education, and wife Trish called him her finest teacher. She suggests memorials be made to Ligonier Ministries (Ligonier.org) or to Presbyterian Preschool, 420 W. Main, Branson MO 65616.
