Evelyn (Muschewske) Griffin, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and aunt passed away peacefully on January 20, 2025, at the age of 100. She was born in Waukegan, Illinois, to the late Louis and Laura Muschewske. A graduate of Waukegan High School, Evelyn was employed as a telephone operator, medical secretary, a secretary for American Can Company, and a secretary for Main Express Trucking in Milwaukee, Wisconsin until her retirement in 1985.
She and her late husband, Powell “Ernie” Griffin met on a blind date and were married on February 4, 1956. They were blessed with two children and spent many happy years together in Libertyville, Illinois, Franklin, Wisconsin, and Mulvane, Kansas prior to Ernie’s passing in 2012. Evelyn maintained her own home until moving in with her daughter, Brenda and son-in-law, Jeff in Reeds Spring, Missouri in 2021.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers: Charles and Ray.
Evelyn is survived by her children: Gary (Vicki) and Brenda (Jeff); grandchildren: Stacy, Sandy (Chris), Danny (Lana), Jack (Michelle), Sarah (Brett), and Kady (Adam); and great-grandchildren: Jack II, Daphne, David, Henry, Jonathan, Oliver, Joanna, Maisie, and Lorraine. She is further survived by her nephews: Robert (Leatta) and Glenn (Judy); nieces: Lynn (Pat) and Donna; brother-in-law and sisters-in-law: Bobby, Bonnie, and Eva Lee.
A graveside service will be held on January 31, 2025, at 12:00 p.m. at the Kansas Veteran’s Cemetery, Winfield, Kansas. Arrangements and cremation are under the direction of Cremations of the Ozarks. To leave an online condolence or memory, please visit www.cremationsofozarks.com.
