Garnes and Lou Meyers

Garnes and Lou Meyers, ages 88, Branson, Missouri

Heavenly rewards were received by Garnes and Lou Meyers on Sunday,
December 18, 2022. They entered into heaven within hours of each other
at the age of 88.

John Garnes Lee Meyers was born September 7, 1934 in Midland,
Louisiana to Jessie & Della Meyers.

Elrita Philomena Primeaux Meyers (Lou)  was born on August 18, 1934 in
Gueydan, Louisiana to Otis & Oscalie Primeaux.

Garnes and Lou married on January 20, 1951 in Acadia Parish,
Louisiana; they were so close to celebrating their 72nd wedding
anniversary! They lived a life devoted to each other, their family and
their God.  Garnes was a church of Christ minister and Lou was a
faithful helpmate alongside him in ministry.  They served
congregations in Louisiana, Texas, and Oklahoma.

They first visited Branson with friends in the late 1980s and fell in
love with the town, people, and entertainers. They purchased a home in
Branson in 1999 and soon became involved in the community. They
volunteered at both CAM Food Pantry and Skaggs Community Health
Center. Garnes served as president of Skaggs Patient Volunteers in
2007-08.

They loved nothing more than going to “the shows” and soon became
close friends with many of the entertainers. Lou prepared gallons of
Louisiana gumbo, orange cakes, and chocolate mayonnaise cakes to feed
the backstage crews. These people soon became their Branson “family.”

Garnes and Lou shared their last 15 months together at Forsyth Nursing
Center and were soon embraced by the staff. They enjoyed the attentive
care and the weekly Bingo games!

Garnes was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Belzie
Jane Meyers Smith. He is survived by his sister Katherine Francez
Meyers Trahan (John) of Crowley, Louisiana.

Lou was preceded in death by her parents and siblings Dalton Primeaux,
Jasper Primeaux and Ouida Primeaux Williams.

Garnes and Lou are survived by their children: Della Meyers Benoit
(Lloyd) of Branson; Terry Meyers (Mary) of Jackson, TN; Johnny Meyers
of Branson;
five grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life ceremony will be held on Saturday, January 14,
2023 at 10 a.m. at Hollister Church of Christ, Hollister, MO. All who
knew and loved this special couple are invited to attend.

Cremation arrangements were under the direction of Snapp-Bearden
Funeral Home & Crematory, Branson. Interment is in Ozarks Memorial
Park Cemetery, Branson.
