Gary Don Smith, 69, of Alpena, Arkansas.

Gary Don Smith, 69, of Alpena, Arkansas, passed away at his home on April 8, 2025, surrounded by his wife and daughters. He was born on April 20, 1955, in Harrison, Arkansas, the son of Verlin and Edith (Campbell) Smith of Batavia, Arkansas.

Gary loved the outdoors, especially spending time outside with his grandchildren. He enjoyed horseback riding, camping and fishing. Gary and Wanda have been married for over 50 years. They lived in the home that he built for them when his kids were very young. In his pastime, he liked making little trinkets for his family. He was a carpenter for over 40 years working mostly for United Built Homes.

Gary is preceded in death by his parents and brother Ronnie Joe Smith. He is survived by his wife Wanda June (Fowler) Smith of the home and three daughters, Denyse (Shane) Hensley, Kerry (Donovan) Burch and Cassandra (Robert) Burgess. Also, he leaves behind 10 grandchildren, Haley (Todd) Broyles, Taylor (Bairek) Bush, Dalton Burch, Logan (Lexi) Franklin, Kylee (John) Hearitige, Kaden Franklin, Caleb Franklin, Allison Franklin, Maggie Burgess and Jaiden Burgess. In addition, Gary had five amazing great grandchildren that will be missing out on adventures with their great grandpa, Rhett Broyles, Wyat Broyles, Beau Bush, William Hearitige and Jackson Franklin.

Gary will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved him.

A graveside service is scheduled for Friday April 11, 2025, at 2:00PM, located at the Carrollton Cemetery, in Carrollton, Arkansas, with Todd Rogers officiating the service. The pallbearers will be Dalton Burch, Logan Franklin, Kaden Franklin, Caleb Franklin, Todd Broyles, Bairek Bush and John Hearitage.
