Gertrude “Trudy” Maria Krueger

Gertrude “Trudy” Maria Krueger, age 83, of Forsyth, Missouri.

Gertrude “Trudy” Maria Krueger, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother passed away at her home in Forsyth, Missouri on Saturday, October 2, 2021 at the age of 83.

She is survived by her beloved husband of 61 years, Karl Frederick Krueger; two sons Paul and Timothy (wife Cheri); daughter Karen Koehn; 10 grandchildren, Stephanie Hutchinson, Kelly Prather, Joshua Krueger (wife Allie), Stephen Krueger (wife Chelsea), Kevin Prather (wife Carson), Jessica Krueger, Joseph Krueger, Julia Krueger, John Paul Krueger, and Kyle Bohon; and six great-grandchildren, Emory Hutchinson, Luke Krueger, Benjamin Krueger, Thomas Krueger, Emmett Prather, and Simon Krueger.

Trudy was born on September 11, 1938 in Bad Tolz, Germany to Georg Eder and Maria Elisabeth Heiss, both of whom preceded her in death. After her parent’s divorce, and following the end of World War II, her mother met and married an American soldier, LeRoy Chatten. Her mother and stepfather moved to Texas shortly after, and Trudy followed a year later at the age of 12. The family eventually moved to San Leandro, California, where Trudy attended high school. She graduated in 1957, but not before meeting her best friend and husband of 61 years, Karl Krueger. The two were married on January 23, 1960 in San Leandro after Karl returned from his tour of duty with the U.S. Navy in Okinawa.

Over the years, Trudy became skilled in balancing not only her and her husband’s business finances, but her roles as bookkeeper and devoted mother to her three children — Paul, Timothy and Karen. Her and Karl raised their family in Seaside, California, where they lived until their retirement in 2005, when they moved to Forsyth, Missouri to be near their children and grandchildren. Trudy always strived to be a doting grandmother like her Oma, who she adored as a child. Any one of her grandchildren would tell you time and again, she more than succeeded.

Trudy was a devout Catholic who prayed often, and loved greatly. She always believed in giving back to her community and spent much of her time volunteering through the church and mentoring students at Forsyth Elementary. Trudy gave more than just her time; she poured her love, kindness, and warmth back into her community. Karl would often affectionately refer to Trudy as his schmetterling, as she fluttered like a butterfly throughout Forsyth. She was a member of the Parish Council of Catholic Women, RCIA, Elks Lodge and Red Hats. Trudy was also an avid gardener and member of the Forsyth Garden Club.

A rosary and funeral service will be held at Our Lady of the Ozarks Catholic Church, 951 Swan Valley Dr., Forsyth, Missouri on Saturday, October 16th. The rosary and visitation will begin at 9 AM, followed by the funeral service at 11 AM.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Kissee-Schofield-Eakins Funeral Home, Forsyth, MO.
