
Gwendolyn Hazel “Gwen” Runyan, age 91.
Gwendolyn Hazel “Gwen” Runyan, age 91, a longtime resident of Eagle Rock, Missouri passed away Saturday, April 20, 2025 at Mercy Hospital Northwest Arkansas in Rogers, Arkansas.
She was born in Bakersfield, California on June 8, 1933 the daughter of A.L. “Brownie” and Ila (Waters) Armstrong. On May 9, 1973 she was united in marriage to Richard “Dick” Runyan, who preceded her in death. Also preceding her in death were her parents; a daughter, Lori Leigh; a son, Michael Danley; a granddaughter, Sadie Ramos; a brother, Norman Armstrong and a sister, Arlene Rhodes.
Surviving are one daughter, Julie Fox of Brownwood, Texas; seven grandchildren, Melanie, Andrea, Michelle, Shaun, Cheyne, Logan and Michael; 11 great grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
Gwen grew up in Lamont, California. She was employed as a dental hygienist for several years. Looking for a place by a lake to retire, Gwen and Dick discovered the perfect setting in Eagle Rock, Missouri. After moving to Eagle Rock, she helped run the Americas Best Value Inn in Cassville. They were early residents of the Lake Shore Acres neighborhood and enjoyed a community of wonderful lifelong friends. She enjoyed reading, traveling, quilting, and crocheting. Gwen and Dick were very involved in the Elks Lodge. She was of the Christian faith.
Services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Monday, April 28, 2025 at Fohn Funeral Home in Cassville. Brother Tony Ball will conduct the service. Burial will be at a later date at Fayetteville National Cemetery in Fayetteville, Arkansas.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 3:00 P.M. Sunday at Fohn Funeral Home in Cassville.
