Jackie Lee Flaxbeard, age 81, of Kearney, Missouri passed away Sunday, April 13, 2025 at his home.
He was born September 13, 1943 in Neosho, Missouri the son of Henry and Thelma (East) Flaxbeard. On June 28, 1969 in Exeter, Missouri he was united in marriage to Shirley Bacon, who survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Veronica Morriss and her husband William of Kansas City, Missouri and LaDonna “Bridgett” Tompkins and her husband Brian of Gallatin, Missouri; one brother, Bob Flaxbeard of Pleasant Hill, Missouri; six grandchildren, Alexx, Brianna, Daltonn, Kharlie, Kirsten, and Brodie and four great grandchildren, Ilianna, Jaren, Logan and Karsyn, with one on the way.
Preceding him in death were his parents and a sister, Jean Dickson.
Growing up in Wheaton, Missouri, Jackie was a proud graduate of Wheaton High School with the class of 1961. He joined the United States Marines, serving during the Vietnam War. He and Shirley moved to the Kansas City area in 1969. After working for Hallmark for several years, from where he retired, he took on a role at Veriform in Kearney, Missouri. He was a big baseball enthusiast and collected baseball cards. Jackie was a member of VFW Post 5717. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Visitation will be held Friday, May 2, 2025 at McQueen Funeral Home in Wheaton from 2:00 until 3:00 P.M. with military honors at 3:00 P.M.
