
James Ellis Strahan, Jr.
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of James Ellis Strahan, Jr., known as Jimmy to his friends and family.
Jimmy was born on October 15, 1975, in Branson, Missouri to James and Karen Strahan. He grew up in Kirbyville, attending Kirbyville Elementary. After graduating the 8th grade from Kirbyville, he attended Branson High School and graduated in 1994. His studies took him to the University of Missouri in Columbia where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in design, laying the foundation for a career in design that would span the country. His initial artistic role was with ArcVision, Inc., designing Applebee’s Restaurants. His role as a project coordinator with ArcVision took him to St. Louis, Dallas and Minneapolis working on different projects. He later moved to New York where he worked in design in the entertainment and fashion industry and was especially proud of his role with Kadan Productions as a project manager. For the last nearly three years, Jimmy had resided in San Francisco and worked serving the San Francisco community through various design projects.
Jimmy’s creativity was not expressed only through his career. He enjoyed cooking, gardening, art, painting pictures, writing short stories, and crafting poetry. His creative endeavors were beautiful and inspiring and will be treasured by his family and others who were fortunate to be a part of his journey.
Jimmy entered into rest on February 18, 2025 at his home in San Francisco at the age of 49 from health complications.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Junior and Maxine Strahan and Richard and Barbara O’Bryan.
He will be deeply missed by his parents James and Karen Strahan of Kirbyville, his sister, Sarah Jenkins & husband Jeremy of Kirbyville, his brother, Josh Strahan and wife Amy of Kirbyville; his nephews, Jacob Jones, Cooper Jenkins, Joshua Strahan, Zackary Strahan, and Thomas Strahan, as well as aunts, uncles, cousins, other extended family and a community that loved him.
Friends and family are invited to gather to celebrate Jimmy’s life on Thursday, February 27, 2025 at Snapp-Bearden Funeral Home & Crematory. A time of visitation will begin at 4:00 p.m. with a memorial service to follow at 5:00 p.m. in the funeral home. Jimmy will be interred in Mincy Cemetery at a later date.
