Janet Lee Gillan, age 88, of Hollister, Missouri.
Janet Lee Gillan, age 88, of Hollister, Missouri, passed away February 22, 2024, with family by her side. She entered this life on January 9, 1936, the daughter of Glenn and Viola (Sautter) Yost in Scotia, Nebraska. Janet graduated from Nebraska Teachers College at Kearney, Nebraska, with a Bachelor of Art in education. She was joined in marriage June 22, 1958, to the love of her life, Donald Earl Gillan.
With a gregarious soul, Janet was a friend to many and was welcoming to all. She enjoyed going swimming daily, playing Canasta every Tuesday, square dancing with Don, and traveling to visit friends and family. Janet was a marvelous seamstress; she opened a home business and grew into owning her own shop, Janet’s Draperies, for over twenty years. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother. Don and Janet retired to Lampe, Missouri, and loved the lake life. They would often host cocktail hour at their home while enjoying the company with family and friends. The memories and moments created throughout the past eighty-eight years will be treasured by all who knew her.
Janet is survived by her children: Glendora (David) Larson of Canandaigua, New York, Donna (Bob) Parkhurst of Castle Rock, Colorado, and Mike (Elizabeth) Gillan of Branson, Missouri; eight grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; sister, Loretta Boyce of Norfolk, Nebraska; brother, Edward (Phyllis) Yost of Clearwater, Kansas; as well as several nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband of sixty-one years, Don Gillan; daughter, Tamara Campbell; great-granddaughter, Brynn Larson; and her parents.
There will be a celebration of life held Sunday 3:00 p.m. February 25, 2024, at Grace Community Assembly, 3101 Gretna Rd, Branson, Missouri 65616, with officiating Pastor John Jackson. Interment will be held Thursday 3:00 p.m. June 27, 2024, at Missouri Veteran’s Cemetery, 5201 S Southwood Rd, Springfield, Missouri.
