Joan LaVerne (Brands) Boerman, Forsyth
Joan LaVerne (Brands) Boerman was born on January 16, 1934, to Fred & Bernice Brands in Chicago, IL. Five years later, she was given a wonderful sister Ruth, who will miss her greatly. They were raised alongside their cousin Lucille, & they were best friends for life. They shared a special bond of God & family like none other till God called her home.
Later, she met Alvin Boerman & they were married in Chicago, IL. They moved to Forsyth, MO, July 2, 1968 with their girls.They owned the Wooden Shoe Drive-In & Founded Boerman Septic which is still family-owned & operated today. They were married for over 67 years. They both loved to travel, their favorite spots were the mountains of Montana & Alaska.
Al & Joan were blessed with 4 daughters. Sharon Hunter of Forsyth, Beverly (Lester) Cardwell of Kirbyville, Bonnie (Donald) Cardwell of Kirbyville, Wendy (Wayne) David of Seymour. Joan loved her girls and thought she had the best sons-in-laws ever. Being a Grandma was one of her greatest joys! She had 9 Grandchildren, Eric, Aaron, Matthew, Danniel, Jeff, Melissa, Adam, Brian, & Michael. 29 Great-Grandchildren & 9 Great-Great Grandchildren.
She loved her family get-togethers & gave each member special attention & love. She was a strong Christian woman who shared her love of God with everyone. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Forsyth since moving to Forsyth in 1968. Later, she attended Real Life Church of Hollister with her daughter Bonnie & son-in-law Donald. She had many dear friends and relatives and will be greatly missed.
She went to live in her heavenly home, on Thursday, September 28, 2023. She is preceded in death by her parents, Fred & Bernice Brands, Her husband Al Boerman, & her precious grandson Danniel Cardwell.
Visitation will be on Monday October 2, 2023 at 2pm at Snapp- Bearden Forsyth Chapel. Service will follow at 3pm in the funeral home with burial following at Snapp Cemetery in Forsyth, MO.
