John LaVern “Jack” Slye, age 82, of Washburn, Missouri.
John LaVern “Jack” Slye, age 82, of Washburn, Missouri passed away Wednesday, December 8, 2021 at Mercy Hospital in Springfield, Missouri.
He was born December 13, 1938 in Willows, California, the son of Jack and Edna (Peterson) Slye. On October 10, 1956 in Reno, Nevada, he was united in marriage to Belva DeWitt, who preceded him in death on March 6, 1996. Also preceding him in death were his parents; one brother; one son, James “Jimmy” Slye and one daughter, Patricia “Trish” Slye.
Surviving are one son, John Slye, Jr. and his wife Veturia of Washburn, Missouri; nine grandchildren, Levi, Amy, April, Chris, Sherry, Mary, Timothy, Christopher and Robert; four sisters, Pat, Bobbie, Cheryl and Sandi and many nieces and nephews.
Jack grew up and attended school in California. Moving to this area in 1975 he worked several jobs before becoming a truck driver for Walmart from where he retired in 1994. He enjoyed watching sports, farming and spending time outdoors. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandkids. He was a member of Believers Full Gospel Fellowship in Washburn.
Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, December 14, 2021 at Fohn Funeral Home in Cassville, Missouri. Pastor Carroll Williamson will conduct the services. Burial will be at Antioch Cemetery in Cassville.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 7:00 P.M. Monday at Fohn Funeral Home in Cassville.
