John Michael “Mike” Jodell, age 69, Hollister, Missouri
On September 1, 2023, our father, John Michael “Mike” Jodell of Thornton, Colorado, left this world at the age of 69. He was born on September 28, 1954, to John Barney and Beverly Jean (Christenson) Jodell in Superior, Wisconsin.
John grew up in the area of Superior, Wisconsin, and graduated from Superior High School. Shortly after graduating, he joined the United States Army and served his country for over 22 years before retiring as a First Sergeant (E8). John received numerous awards and decorations. These include the Army Achievement Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Army Good Conduct Medal, Kuwait Liberation Medal, NCO Professional Development Ribbon, National Defense Service Medal with one Bronze Service Star, Overseas Service Ribbon, Southwest Asia Service Medal with two Bronze Service Stars, and a Sharpshooter Badge. In addition, he also completed multiple courses: Dining Facility Managers Course, Contracting Officer’s Representative Course, Food Success Management Course, and Sergeants Major Academy.
John’s love of music and writing songs is what he lived for, in addition to the Green Bay Packers. If he wasn’t in the studio recording music or traveling to a concert, you could count on him living his best life with his buddy, Oscar (his dog). He also loved watching a Packers game or a good old John Wayne flick. John was a caring and loving man who will forever be remembered.
He was preceded in death by his father, John Barney Jodell and mother, Beverly Jean Jodell.
John is survived by his children: John (Kiana) “Pete” Jodell of Commerce City, Colorado and Leslie (Eddie) Laguana of Aiea, Hawaii; grandchildren: Brandon (Darian) Laguana, Brittannie-Marie (Sonny) Glisson, Chandler-Rece (Donovan) Muro, Brianna-Mae Laguana, John “Ka’Iwa” Jodell, Brandi-Lynn Laguana, and Ryley Jodell; great-grandchildren: Peyton, Athena, Diamond, Lawrence, Alainey-Reighn, and Aleia-Mae; sisters: Barbara (Bill) Erickson and Susan (Bill) Parenteau; and brothers: Gary (Ellie) Jodell and David (Tina) Jodell.
At John’s request, his cremains will be spread at his favorite beach (Jodell’s Beach) on the Island of O’ahu in 2024. Arrangements and cremation are under the direction of Cremations of the Ozarks. To leave an online condolence or memory, please visit www.cremationsoftheozarks.com.
