Joyce Ann Rivers, age 84, of Golden, MO
Joyce Ann Rivers, age 84, of Golden, Missouri passed away Wednesday, July 21, 2021, at her home.
She was born in Everton, Arkansas, the daughter of Ona Howard and Bertha Mae (Marshall) O’Quinn, who preceded her in death. Also preceding her in death were one son, Dennis R. Rivers; two daughters, Sherra Ann Contreras and Terri Lynn Cloyd and two brothers, Bobby Glenn O’Quinn and Carl Marshall.
Surviving are one son, Donald Jeff Rivers of California; one brother, Ward O’Quinn of Ash Grove, Missouri; one sister, Virginia Weatherman and her husband Tom of Ava, Missouri; seven grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; one great great grandchild and many nieces and nephews.
Joyce moved with her family to California in 1944. In 1954 she graduated from Oxnard Union High School in Oxnard, California. Her children were born while she was living in California. She was employed by Litton Industries as a secretary where she worked for 38 years. In 2004 she moved from Canoga Park, California to Golden, Missouri. She was best known for her outstanding needlepoint, unique Brazilian embroidery and was a member of multiple quilting and sewing guilds. She was an avid gardener and reader and was much loved for her home baked cookies and lemon bars and gifting them to people she was thankful for. Many special people in her community have been on the receiving end of these baked goodies.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. Cremation arrangements are under direction of Fohn Funeral Home in Cassville.
