Julie Ann "Judy" Shoffit, age 90, of Taneyville, Missouri

Julie Ann "Judy" Shoffit, 90, of Taneyville.

Julie Shoffit passed away at home, surrounded by her loving family, in the wee hours of Sunday, July 9, 2023. She was born July 17, 1932, in Dallas, Texas, the daughter of James Allen “Jimmie” Brown, Sr., and Eva May (Weaver) Brown. She was a talented decorator with a passion for travel.

She married Delmer Lee Shoffit on September 3, 1955, at the United Methodist Church in Dallas, Texas. They lived in Texas until 1977, when they relocated their family to Forsyth, Missouri. They owned and operated the White Swan Court until 1978, when Lee joined the Forsyth Police Department, from which he retired as Chief of Police in 1990.

During their retirement, she and Lee loved to travel, and traveled all over the country with her mother, Eva May Brown, along. They also frequently took their grandchildren, Jared and Jessica, on trips in their motorhome. They traveled to nearly 40 states, Canada, and Mexico. They enjoyed traveling with their Winnebago-Itasca Motorhome Club and the Gold Wing Road Riders Association. They also cruised to Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Delmer Lee Shoffit, her father, James Allen “Jimmie” Brown, Sr., her mother, Eva May (Weaver) Brown, and her brother, James Allen “Buddy” Brown, Jr.; her uncles Roy Weaver and Robert C. “Bobby” Weaver, and his wife Opal Weaver; her grandparents, Lewis C. Weaver, Elsie Weaver, G. Thomas Brown, and Lee Ester Brown; and her mother-in-law, Edna Irene Auldridge.

She leaves behind her daughter Connie Leann (Shoffit) and husband, Jon Mark Haworth; her grandson, Jared Michael Haworth and wife Raven Elizabeth (Fields), her great-granddaughter, Tillana Louise, and great-grandson on the way, Rowley Delmer Parker; her granddaughter, Jessica Leigh Haworth; her little sister, Debra Mae “Debbie” Brown Jarvis, and her older sister, Martha Mae (Ketchum) Grizzard and husband, Freeman.

Funeral services will be Thursday, July 13, 2023 at 2:00 PM in Snapp-Bearden Forsyth Chapel, 16560 US Hwy 160, Forsyth, MO. Burial will follow in Helphrey Cemetery, Taneyville, MO.

Memorials in lieu of flowers are requested to Helphrey Cemetery, P. O. Box 234, Taneyville, MO 65759.
