Kathryn “Cheryl” Henrichs, age 86, passed away January 4, 2023
Kathryn “Cheryl” Henrichs, age 86, passed away January 4, 2023, peacefully and comfortably at Cox Branson Hospital. She entered this life May 26, 1936, daughter of Carl and Ruby (Johnson) Ames in a farm home in Sand Creek Township in Union County, Iowa.
When Cheryl was four years old, she moved with her family to a farm northeast of Afton, Iowa, where she attended rural school and graduated from Afton High School in 1954. After graduating, she worked for some time in Des Moines, Iowa. Cheryl was joined in marriage June 1, 1957, to Harold Eugene Henrichs.
After returning to Afton, she worked for Holt Plumbing and Heating and then Sale Drug. On October 24, 1958, her son James “Jim” Michael was born.
Cheryl's family moved to Winterset, Iowa, in 1976, where she worked for a time as a caregiver in a nursing home. During this time, she started her studies to become a registered nursing aid, which she obtained in 1978.
She worked at Madison County Memorial Hospital in Winterset until retiring in 2020. Cheryl also enjoyed rummaging around at garage sales with friends.
After her retirement, Cheryl and her family moved to Branson, Missouri, where she lived until her passing. In retirement, she enjoyed going to Silver Dollar City with Harold, where he was employed, and visiting the many friends that she had made there.
Cheryl is survived by her son, Jim Henrichs; brother, Kenneth Ames and wife, Thelma; sister-in-law, Marilyn Ames; as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold; her parents; her in-laws, Charlie and Eva Henrichs; brother, Curtis Ames; and two brothers-in-law: Forrest Henrichs and wife, Dorothy and Duane Henrichs and wife, Darlene.
Services are being planned for a later date. Interment will take place at Greenlawn Cemetery in Afton, Iowa. Memorial contributions in Cheryl’s name may be made to the family.
