Leroy Hall, age 86 of Cassville, Missouri, died March 29, 2023, at Mount Vernon Veterans Home.
Leroy was born November 8, 1936, in the Oakridge community near Cassville, Missouri. He was the first-born son of Clyde and Erma Lee Hall. He grew up there and attended school in Oakridge until he went to Cassville High School. He was a member of the class of 1954. After high school, Leroy enlisted in the United States Navy. He met his beloved Hisako Sawabe while he was serving in Japan. They were united in marriage in Yokohama, Japan on December 19, 1960.
Leroy and Hisako returned to the United States in 1963 and lived in California until Leroy retired from the United States Navy in 1974. A Navy highlight was serving on the USS Princeton, which was the carrier that retrieved the astronauts from Apollo 10. After retiring from the Navy, Leroy began a second career with the United States Postal Service. Leroy and Hisako moved to Springfield, Missouri until 1978, when they moved home to Cassville. Leroy retired from the USPS after 20 years. Leroy and Hisako enjoyed their years together in Cassville on their farm and then later building their cherished home on the outskirts of Cassville. They enjoyed fishing trips and spending time with their extended family. Leroy enjoyed coon hunting and raising hound dogs! He was also fond of Jack Russell Terriers! Leroy took great care of Hisako until her passing in 2007. Later in life, Leroy enjoyed spending his time watching classic Western movies, eating homecooked meals and visiting with his family members. He loved his daily conversations with his sister, Carolyn. Leroy attended Arnhart Baptist Church.
Leroy was preceded in death by his wife of almost 50 years, Hisako Hall, his parents, Clyde and Erma Lee Hall, his brother, Lloyd Hall and his sister, Kathryn Hall.
