Leslie Blaine “Les” Hickman, age 73, of Wheaton, Missouri.

Leslie Blaine “Les” Hickman, age 73, of Wheaton, Missouri died Wednesday, September 18, 2024.

He was born February 4, 1951 in Wheaton, Missouri the son of Orlando Perry Hickman and Vivian Virginia (Haviland) Hickman, who preceded him in death. Also preceding him in death were a brother, William Maynard Hickman and a sister, Kathleen Sue Hickman Shuey.

Les married the love of his life Sherry Jean Wingert on May 31, 2008, she preceded him in death on February 1, 2015.

Surviving are one son, Travis Wayne Russell and his fiancée Brandy Lauderdale of Jenkins, Missouri; three daughters, Tina Marie Lindeman and her husband Tim of Aurora, Missouri, Teresa Kaye Robertson and her husband Richard of Magee, Mississippi and Tammy Lea Hickman King of Aurora, Missouri; seven grandchildren; two brothers, John Perry Hickman of Monett, Missouri and Joe Stanley Hickman of Granby, Missouri; two sisters, Donna Lou Youngblood and her husband Patrick of Granby, Missouri and Vera Maureen Hickman Higgs of Nashville, Tennessee.

Les grew up in McDonald and Barry Counties, attending school at Exeter, Cassville, and Rocky Comfort, Missouri. He worked most of his life in this area at various jobs including hay hauling, woodcutting, and was an employee of Mitchell Sawmill up until his severe stroke in July.

Les was an inspiration to all with his work ethic, strong determination, and humor. Visits from Les’ granddaughter, Tiffany and her dog, Elvis brought him laughter and comfort. Les enjoyed old tv series, a good western movie, and listening to classic Country Music. He always looked forward to attending the annual Hickman Family Reunion. Les’ appreciation of loyal friends and family and his quiet acts of kindness will be remembered.

Services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Monday, September 23, 2024 at McQueen Funeral Home in Wheaton. Pastor Hap Anders will conduct the services. Burial will be at Truelove Cemetery in Wayne, Missouri.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 3:00 P.M. Sunday at McQueen Funeral Home in Wheaton.

Contributions may be made to Truelove Cemetery in memory of Les.
